We are Tarik, Noah and Katy.

Our dream is to provide healthy fruits and nuts in a short circuit, while regenerating biodiversity, landscapes and soil.
 
Having fallen in love with permaculture 10 years ago, Katy loves to create places full of biodiversity, which will enchant you with the song of birds and bees, the scent of flowers and fruits, their play of light and shade ...
 
Tarik, a sociologist by training, is very interested in the issue of local and participatory democracy which he considers necessary for the transition we are currently experiencing.

Noah will be 12 years old in 2030 and will probably live in a world even more degraded than ours if we do nothing collectively and locally.

 
The context :
 
We are developing an eco-place capable of accommodating a dozen people, an agroecology training center and a permacultural farm in Arlon. Indeed, we believe that we must reduce the pressure on land by developing shared habitats that allow us to maintain a good quality of life while significantly reducing our ecological footprint.

This living space will also be a place of agricultural and tertiary activities as well as a place of experimentation and practice to move towards an ecological way of life.

We cultivate autonomy (food, energy, financial, intellectual ...)
We operate in shared governance.
We follow a permacultural design process for the development of the place.
 
The name Ferme du bout du monde (Farm at the End of the World), comes from the fact that we think we are at the end of one world, and at the brink of another. We bear witness to the path that leads us to something different. Our project is a a tribute to deep adaptation. At the end of the world, there is joy, creativity and unimaginable possibility.

 
We moved in during the lockdown a few months ago. 2020 has not been the easiest year for launching collective processes. Currently, we are renovating the house and have started to plant our roots in the impoverished soil to make it a welcoming and inspiring place. We have already installed a vegetable garden and some infrastructure (dry toilets, sheelpfold, potentially for unicorns, should we attract any).

We will be launching the community co-creation process this winter (January 2021). Here we will welcome people who wish to live at the farm, but also those who wish to develop activities compatible with the philosophy of our project.

The project :
 
The money raised will concretely contribute towards:
 
- Planting trees and transforming the existing meadow into a garden of abundance of fruits and nuts, grown without any treatment, for local consumption. We are planning an orchard part combining ca. 140 rustic fruit trees and shrubs with small fruits (sea buckthorn, raspberry), a food forest part with plants perhaps less known but interesting from an edible or medicinal point of view.
- Installing a biodiversity hedge (3 rows) over 160m. The plantings will be made through community work this winter, but the food forest planting is happening over 3 years.
- Undertaking works for the installation of a large biodiversity pond, as well as refuge areas in the orchard. The pond further promotes the biodiversity of the site: toads and frogs (the marsh frog Pelophylax ridibundus, for instance), salamanders, dragonflies, aquatic insects ... and water for birds and other fauna in dry weather. The more biodiversity increases, the greater the chances of success for a natural orchard. If we collect 60% of the funds, we will make the pond as a priority.
