We would like to open a venue that does not exist at present, in a small village in the Ariege: Lescure.

A place where everything can be found, whilst eating and having a drink. A space that sells groceries, snacks and handcrafted artefacts, where all the furniture is for sale.

To this end we have decided to create an SCI shared with the association, to buy a building, the ground floor to continue to be occupied by a metal worker who has been there several years and will make some of the furniture, and the first floor at street level, will be dedicated to the associations activities. The objective is to create a space where producers and creators can exhibit and sell their unique handcrafted objects, where local producers can sell their produce direct, and where the food truck can sell snacks using said produce.

Comprising of the metal worker, a local ecological mother, who also hunts and has her food truck, friends male and female, producers, artists, hunters, friends and family. The association "Melting Potes" has been created following these encounters. Sharing our passions for art, music, hunting, cooking and the environment.

For Autumn 2019 : projects, aspirations....

The associative cafe "Melting Potes"; to be a place for encounters and joviality, concentrating on the promotion of local produce and a place where local artisans can exhibit their creations collectively.

Who are we ?

Charlène Bouvard :  After obtaining a bachelor's degree in applied art, I headed to the association of the companions of the duty. Trained as a stonemason, living in Ariège since 7 years now, I'm working now in agricultural production, service and catering. I am passionate about harvesting, hunting and cooking with the products offered by this rich territory that surrounds us.

Wayne John Critchley : English ironworker of art, living in Ariège for eight years now and more precisely in the town of Lescure at the workshop of the Baure for 3 years. I am an accomplished artisan and artist. Mixing my knowledge of carpenter and sculptor to my artistic imagination, I have been doing for more than fifteen years some landscape installations and metal structures in ironwork. 

Let it be time to pull together...

The project is centred around cooking, artistic creations, and the consumption of local produce
without packaging, as well as the produce derived from the local hunting activities. We propose to offer hot dishes at reasonable prices, as well as snacks and tapas. It will be possible to order food whilst browsing the furniture and other items...as even the bar will be for sale.

This associative cafe wants above all, to provide a relaxed meeting place for people of all generations. A place that keeps the rural community vibrant, an informal place, a place for exchange of ideas, a showcase for each other activities.

The focus is on 3 principal activities :

1)The grocery stall and cafe as social element

2) The cooking

3) Artistic creativity

The grocery stall as sociable element

Producing, consuming and exchanging
In view of the ecological and economical challenges we are facing, the local grocery stall
will provide a place where producers can sell their produce without packaging and glass containers
will be available, for a deposit, for those customers in need.
Priority will be given to organic produce and unpackaged produce. Any quantity of purchase will be
permissible, in the spirit of helping each other.

The food stall

Nothing is wasted, all is transformed. The cooking will follow the seasonal availability of produce.
Priority given to local organic produce, with the occasional original mix from traditional dishes.

Artistic creations

A place of activity, encounter and meetings. The associative cafe will exhibit useful and and
inspiring creations, temporary or permanent. A variety of exhibitions, including unusual furniture, paintings, photographs, sculpture, jewellery, artefacts linking various materials....items that are functional, decorative, expressive or with a message....a "melting pot". 

Technically the metalwork is already a viable activity and the food truck will commence operation
this Spring to host local people and passersby. An opportunity to understand the local demand and
needs, and those of the village, in preparation for the opening of the cafe this Autumn 2019.

To buy the building and to create this place of life, we are currently missing 15 000€.

To help us in this adventure, we first need 6 000€ because it will allow us to create the Melting Potes association project without a bank loan !
