Distillation equipment to produce essential oils
Our little family arrived in Dordogne in July 2019 to live a simpler and healthier life. We set to work to revive the old hamlet of Condaminas. Our basic activity is the cultivation and gathering of aromatic and medicinal plants on land now certified organic by Ecocert.
Our first production season of lavender and plants started modestly in 2020. We also have a few sheep, rabbits and poultry constituting a small-scale breeding programme, close to nature and with respect for animals — allowing us to produce a more nutritious and healthy meat, which is sold directly to our customers.
It all sounds idyllic but it was not easy to achieve - and we would be nothing without the help and kindness of our neighbours and the people in our community. A big thank you to the volunteers who graciously helped us to plant the first hectare of four varieties of lavender during confinement. Thank you to our neighbouring farmers who help us understand how to work according to the terroir and the seasons. In addition, thank you to all the people — you know who you are — who were friends before being customers, and who helped us to get started in direct selling.
The place where we live is beautiful, with fabulous hiking trails that cross the lavender fields, the garden, the meadows and the woods. We started this agro-tourism project in order to welcome you here — coming from near and far — for a few hours or a few days, and to share with you the absolute splendour of this place.
What will the collection be used for ?
We would like to ask for your help to acquire an essential oil distiller which will allow us to extract the essence of the aromatic herbs we grow, to produce essential oils and hydrosols, which in turn will serve as the basis for organic cosmetics and for medicinal applications.
If we manage to raise € 4,800 we can purchase a distiller with a 150-litre wood-heated kettle, allowing three methods of distillation and hydro-distillation as well as a stainless steel tank and cooler – all produced in France.
With €6,800, we could equip ourselves with a 10-litre stainless steel Florentine Vase to separate essential oil and hydrosol, a funnel with filters and stainless steel tank(s) with essential oil taps - which would help with the storage and conditioning of the hydrosols and oils produced.
Our appeal to the public also concerns the development of the basic infrastructure to welcome you here. With €8,000 our crowdfunding effort will allow us to transform the most magical parts of our land into exceptional and comfortable picnic places that would allow you to savour our delicious picnic baskets while enjoying the calm and beauty of this special place.
If our budget allows, we are also considering the development of a parking lot.
If you prefer to contribute by other means (cheque or cash), please send it to the following address :
