ABOUT ME ...

Hello Everybody, family, friends, friends of friends and friends of friends of their friends, my name is Esther, im 36 years old and I live in the south of france. I was born and grew up in Wales so no wonder I have a hidden love for sheep !
5 years ago I was lucky enough to buy a little piece of land in the foothills of the pyrenees. The following christmas my boyfriend and I were given 2 lambs to help mow the grass....and since, these 2 lambs have become 12 adult sheep and my passion for sheep farming has bloomed.

 

 

 

 

THE PROJECT

My dream to become a farmer is finally happening !

I have recently found more land to rent in the village and a place in the mountain for the sheep to stay this summer and every summer after that.

I will be starting with 50 ewes and gradually increasing by keeping some of the lambs each year until i reach 200 sheep. Our aim is to have a small scale farm and produce local, organic and well loved lamb.                      

 

 

The sheep will be 'tarasconnaise' a local breed from the pyrenees. They will spend 3 months every summer in the mountains being cared for by 2 lovely shepherds leaving me the time to make hay on the fields for the winter. I will however visit them regularly during the summer months to check on their health. In september they will all come back down to the fields supposedly pregnant and give birth in the barns during the winter months.

 

 

 

And now this is where you guys come in...i need a little leg up to start my flock...

 

I have chosen to use crowd funding to help start me on way. I was in two minds to do it this way but i could really do with a little help to materialise my dream. summer with a night in a hut / refuge to visit the shepherds

and the flock, 2 meals included for two people.

 

 

The money raised: € 3,000 will go towards the purchase of the 25 first ewes.

If I reach the second rank of help: 6 000 €, I could buy 25 more to start the activity with 50 ewes ... the founders of the herd.
