For a restaurant at the Fromentaux farm
We are a family of 5 living in the centre region of France farming on our ever expanding family farm. There is me (Sue) and my husband (Rob) and 3 of our 4 children with us too, Becky, Rhyan and our youngest Charlie. Each of us have our individual jobs and roles on the farm, all to ensure the animals are looked and cared for properly and the farm is kept running smoothly.
On our farm we have Limousine cattle that we calf from March to October. Our main Limousin Bull "Erode" will be the proud father to most of these. We also raise sheep, they are texel and charmois. They will start lambing in February and supply us with an abundance of beautiful new bouncing lambs. We sell our young bulls from the cattle at the market at Les Herolles, working with buyers and selling cattle our little farm shop can't manage.
I myself handle the farm shop "Earl Les Fromentaux" and all the direct sales of our wonderful produce. As we have sheep and cows on the farm we can offer lamb and beef to all our clients. We have also involved some other local producers around us and can also sell pork products too (sausage, bacon, ham...). For me, along with many other farmers the connection between farmer and food is very important and should not be lost or overshadowed by the supermarkets.
We have recently also started hosting farm meals. This is often a 4 course meal that focuses on our farm produce and keeping the clients happy and giving them a taste of what they could buy. I would like to make this more of a frequent and known event as I love the fact that we use all our own produce and can also include the local suppliers to serve delicious meals made from local produce. In the future, I would like to further open up our far to allow farm visits to allow the public to experience what a real working farm is like.
We use our own meat from both cattle and sheep and sell it directly from the farm. We supply to a few select restaurants in the area, and attend food markets in local towns.
I would like to make a restaurant on the farm for everyone to enjoy. We now have a building that is perfect for this job with a fantastic views of the valley and peaceful surrounding. Making it possible to see the farme, have the opportunity to see us at work, visit the animals on the request and enjoy local and home grown food.
What will your donations be used for?
A lot of the ground work I can do myself but the cost of materiels and expert help I would like to finance. Here is a simply breakdown of what your donations would help with.
We put the first objective at 6000€ in order to finance :
Floor to concrete plus labour - 1300€
Renovation of ceiling wood and ploughing - 2300€.
Veranda and outside seated eating area - 1200€
Lighting, electric work and expert - 1000€
2 windows - 200€.
If your donations exceed our expectations, we will be extremely grateful, we will then set a second goal at 8000€ and this will allow us to fund :
Doors - 180€
Person to put them in - 450€
2 double doors to take in the views from the proposed restaurant - 880€
